About the teacher

Hi everyone! I am Miss Stephanie Hester, and I am a proud third grade teacher. I love teaching children and creating an environment where my students feel loved, safe, and challenged. Most of all, I want my students to have fun while their brains grow! My classroom emphasizes that making mistakes is a key way in learning so no need to be afraid to take on a challenge!

I was born in Bakersfield, CA and I always dreamed to become an elementary school teacher. As life happened, I made a detour in my teaching career and earned my Bachelors of Science in Business Marketing at California State University of Long Beach. During my senior year, I became an intern for a fortune 500 healthcare company as their Employee Wellness Coordinator. I spent my time creating programs to encourage and support employees to pursue a healthy lifestyle. As time went on, my heart continued to pull me towards teaching. After I was hired as a full time employee, I switched and became a College Recruiter for the company. As a College Recruiter, I was blessed to travel the country to recruit the best talent and create curriculum to train new hires. From the immense amount of knowledge I gained as a recruiter, I took a jump and was accepted into the Masters and Credentialing program at University of Southern California. After graduating, I packed everything up and moved back to the city that always had my heart . . . Bakersfield.

I spent my first year teaching in Shafter, California where I was the third grade lab teacher. As the lab teacher, I taught math and literacy. Also, as the lab teacher, I collected data and helped students close the gap in their misunderstandings. My time in Shafter was incredible, but my desire to teach all subjects continued to tug at my heart. So now I have found my absolute dream job within the Fruitvale School District. I am excited to teach, form relationships, grow, and learn with my new class.
